Párisi Udvar: The abandoned masterpiece

History of Párisi Udvar

Párisi Udvar (Parisian Court) in Budapest used to be a magnificent shopping arcade located at Ferenciek tere (Square of the Franciscans). It was built between 1909 and 1913 and the arcade is a brilliant masterpiece in Eclecticism style, which combines elements of different architectural styles (Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque). Nowadays the building is empty and dark. There aren’t any shops left, but only security guards.

Tips for visiting Párisi Udvar

Tourists are still allowed to enter the building through one of the entrances (the second is locked up) to admire the wall paintings, decorations and the huge glass dome.
