If you are in Dortmund and want to spend a few hours in the nature – the Westfalenpark is your place. It is located in the outskirts of the city and it can be easily reached by the underground. The park is enormous with extremely beautiful gardens, lawns and fountains. In the Rosarium you can find about 2600 different species of roses from all over the world.
The park is mostly known for its telecommunications Florian Tower (Florianturm), named after St. Florian. The concrete construction is erected in 1959. The height of the tower is 219.6 metres. There is a revolving restaurant at 137.46 m. and an observation deck at 141.88 m. The views from there are breathtaking.
Tips for visiting Westfalenpark
The park is a great place for a picnic. Also, there are a lot of restaurants there, but most of them work from April to October and not every day in the week (more info).
