In search of the best ice cream in Vienna

The best ice cream in Vienna

Everybody knows that you have to go to Italy if you want to eat real gelato. I thought the same way until few months ago when I found out how wrong I was. Although I had visited Vienna few times already, this time the city surprised me. All my previous trips were in the autumn, so normally I haven’t noticed the numerous ice cream shops scattered all over the city. This time, when I visited the city in the middle of May, it was all different. There were ice cream shops literally on every corner and I was astonished at the waiting lines in front of the most of the ice cream parlours. So many people were waiting about 15-20 min just for an ice-cream. I decided that I can’t leave the city without trying the Viennese gelato. And after trying it I was in love. I can say that I liked it even more than the ones I had in Italy. I didn’t miss a day without having gelato till the rest of my trip.

In fact the classic Italian gelato is a long Viennese tradition, which exists from the 19th century. Don’t miss to try the Viennese gelato if you are visiting the city in the summer. Just pick a shop from my list “The best ice cream in Vienna” and cool your summer days.
