How to travel with essential oils

Don’t forget your favourite essential oils when going on vacation. Even if your space is limited, take one or two that you use on a daily basis. Some of the oils have a wide spectrum of properties, so you can easily choose a few that cover most of your needs.

I usually buy small bottles no more than 15ml/0.5oz. In this way, I can take my treasured oils everywhere without any problems. Moreover, I always travel only with a carry-on luggage or weekender bag, so I have limited space.

The 2 best essential oil carrying cases

If you’re taking less than three essential oils, just put them in your cosmetic bag. However, if you travel for a longer period or want to take with you more oils, you need an essential oil travel case.

These essential oil carrying cases are also a great choice to keep your oils safe at home.

The best travel essential oil diffuser

Do you need a diffuser for your vacation? It all depends on the length of the trip. For a weekend getaway, you can manage without a diffuser. Drip few drops on a tissue, in a hot glass of water, directly in the shower or just sprinkle them around the room. However, for a vacation longer than a week, you’ll need a travel size essential oil diffuser.

This mini essential oil diffuser and humidifier is one of the best choices on the market. You can control the mist intensity and the colour changing LED lamp. The diffuser works great in an office, too (you can turn off the light to prevent any distraction).

  • 3.8 x 3.8 x 2.8 inches | 9.7 x 9.7 x 7.1 cm
  • multiple power supply – by AC adaptor, car USB, mobile phone charger or power bank

  • water tank capacity of 100ml that can continue use 3-5 hours

Can you bring essential oils on a plane

Are essential oils allowed on planes?

Totally. You can put them both in your carry-on and checked luggage.

Essential oils in a carry-on luggage

There is no problem taking your favourite essential oils, even if you’re travelling only with a carry-on. However, you have to put them in a clear one litre/quart ziploc bag (along with the other liquids). You can take as many containers (100ml/3.4oz or less per item) that could fit in this ziploc bag.

Essential oils usually have potent scents that may irritate other people. Thus, don’t use them during your flight. If you need to use any oil on the plane, prepare in advance a diluted spray or drip a few drops on a tissue.

Essential oils in a checked baggage

There are no regulations how many essential oils you can bring into your checked baggage. Just be sure that you seal them well to prevent spills. If you bring a beach towel with yourself, wrap the oils in it to keep away your clothes from any leakage. If you travel regularly with essential oils, better get yourself a travel carrying case.
