You won’t find this place by accident. It is hidden so well so even if you pass along it, you will just continue to walk without noticing it. The place, Patisserie Villa Rosiche, is located in the heart of Sofia, on a quiet little street next to Vitosha Blvd. A blue plaque with the name of the pastry shop marks the entrance to the place. You will pass through a small tunnel and you will find yourself in a small garden in front of an old two-storey house.
I visited the pastry shop Villa Rosiche during the weekend and it was packed. I had to wait for a table, but I didn’t mind it at all after I saw the cakes on the window-sill. After a little bit of waiting I was seated on the second floor on a small cosy table overlooking the garden. The interior of the pastry shop is very romantic with a lot of wooden elements and wrought iron. Villa Rosiche offers a variety of homemade cakes, croissants and selected coffee and tea. Don’t miss the homemade elderflower syrup, the cherry syrup and the fresh lemonade. If you don’t have a sweet tooth, you will find something in the menu for you, too – the fresh croissants with tomato and mozzarella or with mushrooms and blue cheese are not to be missed.
After taking a long look on the menu and wondering how to choose only one cake (they all looked so delicious) I decided to go with the Strawberry cheesecake and a coffee. The cheesecake had a crispy base of hazelnut cookies, soft cream cheese with pieces of strawberries and it was amazing. It had such a tender taste, like a cloud filled with strawberry syrup. My friend ordered the Banoffee tart, which consisted of chocolate cookies, soft caramel and bananas, covered with a light mousse of white chocolate. It was amazing, too.
Tips for visiting Villa Rosiche
There aren’t any photos of the offered cakes in the menu, so you would better choose a cake from the window-sill.
