Where to Stay in Pisa, Italy? How to choose the best location for your Tuscany trip?
To choose the perfect area you should take into account your travel plans. How long will you stay in the city? Will you use Pisa as a base to travel around? Are you departing very early in the morning?
Where I stayed
For my trip, I chose an accommodation between Arno River and the Central train station. This area is only about 1,5km from the airport and 500m from the Central train station. This perfectly suited my needs. I planned to spend 1 day in Pisa and to take a day trip from Pisa on the following day.
I arrived very late in the evening, almost midnight and I could easily reach my accommodation by foot. Having the train station nearby allowed me to take an early train to Lucca for a day trip. And the Leaning Tower was only 1km away!
My favourite place to stay in this area is Five Roses Bed & Breakfast. It has a great location, yet quiet at night. The rooms are charming and the breakfast offers a variety of salty and sweet selection. The perfect base to explore Pisa and Tuscany.
The best hotels near Leaning Tower of Pisa
What are the best hotels near Leaning Tower of Pisa? Is it easy to find a good hotel in Pisa city centre or close to Pisa Tower?
The Leaning Tower of Pisa is right in the heart of the city, so booking an accommodation around it is a great choice. You’d be close to all landmarks, restaurants and bars. You’ll have no problems going back to your hotel after a lovely dinner or a romantic walk along Arno river at evening.
Finding a good hotel near Pisa Tower is a whole different story. Most of the hotels that have fantastic views of the tower are in a very poor condition and dirty. I had a really hard time finding few decent ones. I hope you’d find the perfect place for you among them.

Hotels near Pisa airport and Central train station
Are there any good hotels near Pisa airport, Italy? Is it better to stay close to the airport or to choose an accommodation in the city centre? Whether you will stay close to the airport or in the city centre, it depends on your travelling plans.
How to get from Pisa International Airport to the city centre
Pisa International Airport (Galileo Galilei Airport) is the main airport in Tuscany. The airport and the Central train station are less than a kilometre from each other. The city centre is about a 2km walk from the airport itself.
Although the distance is not long, there is a lack of convenient public transport. Thus, I’d recommend you stay close to Pisa airport or Central train station only if you have an early flight or plan to use Pisa as a base for day trips.
There is no direct connection between the airport and the city centre. You can take either taxi or Pisa mover. The Pisa mover takes you to the Central train station. From there you could walk to the city centre or take a bus.
Having this in mind, the better option is to book a hotel near Pisa tower. Yet if your plans include an early morning flight or transfer to another city, take a look at these hand-picked B&Bs and hotels close to Pisa airport.
